Verified ReviewerFORCED INSURANCE
- - Escrow did not pay homeowners insurance, causing cancellation.
- - A forced insurance charge was added to the loan.
- - Payment rose from 2340 to 2640.
I have an escrow account and I make my payments to them so they can pay my taxes and insurance. Well, guess what?
They never paid my homeowners insurance company, so they canceled my insurance because Freedom did not pay. Now my payment went from 2340 to 2640 because they put forced insurance on my loan of 4200.00, three times the amount of my previous policy. Wow! And getting hold of someone has been a nightmare.
I sent 15 emails and about 10 faxes. N/A, go figure.

Verified Reviewer |Abuse apologists who won't follow the law
- - Staff told me to cooperate with my abuser, traumatizing.
- - They won't remove me from my ex-husband's mortgage despite court orders; escalations fail.
Your customer service gentleman told me to "cooperate with" my abuser when I was trying to get them to follow the court order removing me from my ex husband's mortgage and every attempt to escalate that complaint and get the employee reprimanded is getting me hung up on, and no one will take me off my ex husband's mortgage, even AFTER the traumatizing experience of a man telling me to cooperate with my abuser.
Preferred solution: my name taken off my ex-husband's mortgage like the court order says to do, and the man fired who told me to just cooperate with my abuser

- - Robert Harding seeks the June 2020 payoff for a loan moved to Freedom Mortgage.
- - He is in a divorce and his ex-wife wants half the property's value.
To whom it may concern or someone that can give me some information.
My name is Robert Harding. I am in need of some information on a loan I had with Current Mortgage Company. That loan was bought by Freedom Mortgage back in 2020. I am going through a divorce and my ex-wife wants 1/2 the property value. Is there any way you can get me what the payoff was in June 2020? I am trying not to sell the house so she can get it and put me out on the street.
Thank you for any help.

Worst experience of my life !!!! Run .. Now !!
- - Tornado damage and my mother's hospitalization led to a 3-month deferment.
- - Documents, emails, fax, and portal kept delaying loan assistance approval.
June 10th my house was hit by a tornado, luckily everyone was OK. It could have been worse.
My mother was also hospitalized around the same time, requiring a 4 hr round trip drive to visit her. I called Freedom looking to have my payments deferred for 3 MOS. While we waited for insurance to reimburse us for out of pocket expenses. I spoke to a nice lady who said" absolutely !
Not a problem , sorry to hear about your situation" Just send us 2 MOS bank statements, and the last 2 pay stubs and fill out this paper (1 piece of paper emailed to me by her) and email it to this address.. I was not behind at all at this moment. After 2 days of trying to email documents only to get a reply email from Microsoft stating that the email was undeliverable 24 hrs. .
I then tried to fax it to the fax number listed on the website. Again 2 days.. The fax was never answered. I was finally able to upload the documents on their website by sending them to a different department other than the hardship area.
After 3 days I reached out to see if they have received my documentation, I tried using the website by was always redirected when I tried to reach the Hardship department with a " sorry we are unable to complete your request. Please try again". When I finally talked to a real person, I was told I was missing documentation. How could that be, I sent exactly what your representative told me to send.
Well you need to fill out this packet.
Filled out the packet, uploaded it, fax and email still not working. I called back the next day asking if they received my documentation, was told no, give it a day or 2. Called in 2 days.. Yes they had it, "but you did not include the W2, we need a W2".
That was not on the list of documents that your instructions said to include. This went back and forth . Meanwhile, I was getting letters from them talking foreclosure. When I asked about this I was told no don't worry about it.
I said should I be making payments," no, nothing will happen unless we don't hear from you for 4 months" I asked, do you not talk to each other.. Do they not know that I am trying to go through this process? Oh yes, but some things just take time to resolve. This went on for 3 more months, each time wanting something else.
If they didn't need a new document, the documents they had were expired, and I had to start all over, 7 different times I had to give them new or additional documentation and I filled out the packet 2 times. . I had an agent who was "sympathetic" to my situation who would call once a week and say, well this is what is happening, this is what they need, just send it so we can move forward. Here we are 100 days later, my mother has since passed, and I finally yesterday received notice from them that my "loan assistance application" has been approved.
Now for some reason I don't qualify for hardship or disaster assistance.
Guess a tornado doesn't count as a disaster. So nothing except those 3 payments it seems they offer to everyone else.
User's recommendation: Run ! Do not use this company !!!!

Verified ReviewerTerrible service, unreserved issues, and not entering ACH documentation
- - Long hold times and difficulty reaching anyone.
- - Poor control of documents sent to the company.
- - Considering switching due to unresolved issues.
I'm done *** I'm done waiting on hold for an hour to two hours. Waiting to get in touch with somebody.
Better control of documentation that was sent to this company.
I think I'm gonna look for another company. I'm tired of being on hold for so long and not getting things resolved.
User's recommendation: Better communication and quicker communication. I'm so tired of hearing the same music for 45 minutes to an hour and a half every time I *** call.
HORRIBLE Customer Service Knowledge
- - Insurance escrow issue; need return premium check.
- - Freedom Mortgage bought my loan; I wasn't told who holds it.
- - Finally helped; know the next steps.
10/6/2025 - As of this date I still have YET to speak to a person that can help me with my Insurance Escrow issue. Freedom Mortgage bought my mortgage from my initial mortgage company.
I was never told by either company who was my current mortgage holder.
I have been trying to get a return premium check to my insurance escrow account with Freedom and have gone through five different customer service reps from Loss Draft, Insurance Claims, Escrow Department with none of them being able to help me get the information that I need. I was FINALLY helped and now know what direction to head in.
User's recommendation: Beware of the lack of knowledge of customer service reps in most departments should you need assistance.

Verified ReviewerMortgage Modification
- - Told I qualified for a modification to lower the rate.
- - Told I didn't have to make the next two payments.
- - Now delinquent and reported to credit bureaus.
I was contacted by Freedom Mortgage, letting me know I was eligible for a modification to lower my rate on my mortgage. I went through the process and was told I did not have to make the next two payments as they modified my loan.
Two days before I was to sign the modification, I was told that I did not qualify because I had a poor payment history due to missing the last two payments. Now they say I am delinquent on my mortgage and have reported this to the credit bureaus as being delinquent with a poor payment history.
Absolutely horrible way of doing business, and now I have ruined my credit. Once I fix my credit, I will be looking to refinance elsewhere.
- Sneaky and not truthful as they said one thing and did another

Verified ReviewerResolved: Customer service number is a sales scam!
- - Customer service upsold Medicare bracelets and other insurance.
- - Cannot reach real customer service about my paid-off mortgage or mailed documents.
Everything turned out OK. Problem was that their main customer service line traps a caller in a loop of robotic sales for Medicaid. It was impossible to get through to a live agent with that number.
Very nice...answered by questions about escrow balance and title transfer.
Got a human on the line on 3-10-2025, really friendly!I used the number:Customer Service:(855) 216-**** (option 4)Personalized EvaluationDo not let them put you through to the (855) 690-**** customer service number. Demand they get a live agent on the phone and go from there. She answered all of my questions and was very nice to me.Overall, I like Freedom Mortgage, but they need to find an easier way people can steer their way out of the Medicaid bracelet sales pitch. My Mortgage has been paid off.
Will I have my mortgage document sent to me in the mail?
Will the escrow balance held be sent to my by check?

Horrible experience
- - Misinformation followed the transfer.
- - Forms were sent, but access was blocked.
- - Phone info not received; staff were inconsistent.
Freedom Mortgage is terrible! I only chose them because my mortgage was being transferred to me.
I understand that process can take about six months. But once the mortgage was fully transferred to me, I received nothing but nonstop misinformation, which was incredibly frustrating. They would send me various forms that I need, but I can't access them because my account wasn't set up due to the transfer. Even when I try to receive information by phone, I never once got the text.
Along with this, they need better-trained customer service as well; the staff all provide different information which doesn't help me as a homeowner.
If I ever decide to purchase another home, I will certainly avoid Freedom Mortgage and recommend that others do the same if they ask for my advice. They've made my first-time homeowner's experience terrible!
