I first applied for a home refi on 6/16/12. I received the first set of paperwork fairly quickly and returned the forms.

It then took almost a month before I received a response. There were numerous requests for additional information/documentation which I provided within 48 hours of the request. However, I woulde not receive any kind of response unless I called repeatedly. On top of all this, jmy contact person decided to take a vacation in August in the midst of an onslaught of applications.

I finally got to the point (in late September) when I was told that the closing process could begin in early October. At this point it had been 3 months since I first applied for the loan. I was then contacted by someone in the closing department who told me that I would need to bring approximately 850.00 to the table for closing. When i asked why, since the loan was not supposed to have any closing costs, she stated that it was b ecause of the low balance in my existing escrow account and the amount that I owed for taxes forf September and October.

I then contacted Bank of America who held dmy mortgage and learned that I did not owe anything for Sept & Oct since I had already made those payments. The amount that Freedom stated I owed for taxes was wrong because they did not bother to see that I had a homestead exemption. I had those documents FAXed to them as well. If I owed any amount at all it would have been only 50.99.

Once the documents were received by Freedom, the closer agreed that I did not owe 850.00. The closing was finally scheduled for 10/29/102 at 6 PM because I absolutely insisted that I close befoire the end of October (remember, this all started on 6/15/12). I made a point of asking the closer if all the documents were in order and she told me that they were. But today, the date of closing, i received a call from the losal notarty who was to do the closing that the documents from Freedom had not been FAXed to her so she could not do the closing.

The employees atg Freedom Mortgage absolutely do not know what they arfe doing! I feel like I SHOULD BE PAID FOR DOING THEIR WORK FOR THEM.

It is hard to believe that a closer lwho had guaranteed me that all documents were in order could fail to FAX the documents to the notary! Now it looks like after 4-1/2 months oif dealing with these idiots thaty I will have to wait until November to close.

Monetary Loss: $77000.

Location: Pensacola, Florida

I have been dealing with Freedom mortgage company going on 6 months now trying to close on a refiance. The underwriters lack experience are totally clueless.

How can this company offer such good rates but lack experieced underwriters to handle loans of this magnitude.

They are constantly requesting paperwork from you that isn't necessary to close a loan if you have brought a home or refiance before you know this much paperwork is not necessary. Before you sign a contract with any broker make sure Freedom homes isn't the lender.

3 1/2 motnhs to close. Same as the main story.

I had everything to them same day as requested. No returned phone calls and no status reports. When I hit week 8 I demanded an answer and was told I needed to be patient and would be contacted when my rep got back from vacation. I finally escalated this to manager to manager who kept failing.

I finally got the "Vice President of Operations" and he was able to help push through my loan. I just closed 10/29/12 but am so scared they will be servicing my loan as their customer service is awful. No one has any idea what they are doing and just the thought of having to deal with an issue with them frightens me.

They make deals no one else can and take advantage of that. Disgusting!

While I agree your process has been ridiculous (as was ours) it was a good deal. And as for the notary, as far as I know they are located in NJ (thats where I sent my packet) so they probably experienced a terrible time because of that.

Unbelieveable...we began at nearly an identical date (well, we started late May) and still have not completed doc's.

Good grief.

Not a chance I would recommend.

Lost papers.

Closing doc's (pay off) from banks had to be requested 3 times because they couldn't get job done.

Borderline incompetent.

Too many unanswered e-messages, phone calls and too many promises from LADERA/FREEDOM!

AWFUL experience.
