I received a card in the mail from Freedom Mortgage on Monday (5/7/12) with a Streamline Refinance offer. This card stated "you are preapproved and under Federal law, this is a firm offer of credit."; "No Appraisal, No points, No Lender Fees, NO HASSLES" on the back of this card it also stated "This prescreened offer of credit is based on information in your credit report indicating that you meet certain criteria." I had other questions about the company, the offer and the details of the offer as well as the company's contract terms.

The first person I talked to was Barbra. Barbra was very nice, professional and easy to communicate with. Barbra then transferred me to a "Loan Officer" (The guy in the next cubical) Earl answered the phone and proceeded to tell me what a great offer I had received. And that if my "Credit Score" was over 600 and if my employment status checked out, I "Might" be approved. He then proceeded to tell me about his 30 plus years' experience in this business. Earl was very impressed with how much he knew about "the business". I asked some very simple questions like "Can I get an email with the exact criteria that I need to meet for the Loan approval and the list of terms in the loan contract. Earl proceeded to tell me that I wouldn't be able to obtain the same credit score as they would get and that Freedom Mortgage doesn't have anything that he could email me to review. Mr. Black proceeded to tell me how little I could understand about credit reports and contract terms. When Mr. Black finally stopped talking I requested that he simply answer my questions then about the contract terms and the criteria I would need to meet to be approved. Mr. Black again proceeded to inform me of how little I could actually understand about these matters and asked to proceed with a credit check in which he would need my Social Security Number, age, place of birth, spouses name SSN, age, birth place, Place of employment and annual gross salary... (All the same information that an ID thief would like to obtain which is really why I asked for the email...)At this time I had already made up my mind I would not be giving Mr. Black any commission money for telling me that I am "Unable to understand", "not capable โ€ฆ". So when Mr. Black again started telling me again how incapable I was... I told him "We're done here" and hung up the phone.

I then started looking for information about Freedom Mortgage, which has led me to this web site. I wanted to find a number to call Freedom Mortgage Human Relations department but could not find any phone numbers for Freedom Mortgage other than customer service numbers which would only get me to the person in the next cubical to Mr. Black.

I then decided to inform others of how bad the customer service is at Freedom Mortgage. If they treat people like they are "incapable of knowledge" before they have them as a customer, what kind of treatment would you get after you become a customer? Why would anyone want to be treated in this manner?

Sometimes the best way to walk away from these companies that seem to protect their employees with limited people skills that shouldn't be in the customer service department of their business.

As for Mr. Black, I have couple remaining questionsโ€ฆ How have you managed to provide your four walls of support when you treat your perspective clients as though they are *** How have you managed to get 30 years of experience as a loan officer when you treat clients as though they are ***

Thank you very much for your comment regarding that card. It is a waste of time and as you said, dealing with a rude, patronizing *** like you mentioned would be fired from a legitimate company. I hear you and feel your pain.

I just got a call from Mr. Earl Black from Freedom mortgage.

Freedom Mortgage bought our loan knowing we were in loss mitigations with New Day Financial. We are not behind in one single payment we are fighting a bad VA appraisals. Now I get a call from Mr. Earl Black...who is he and what does he want????

He only wants to talk over the phone. So I am not taking his calls.

I left a voice massage letting him know we only communicate by e-mail. Have not heard back
